If you haven't done it yet, first:

  • Install the Mod.
  • Adjust configs or leave that for later. (optional)
  • Start your Minecraft, choose your world type, and create a new world.
This page contains content about features that are outdated, or have been removed from the mod.
These features only exist in older versions of Bewitchment.

The following guide is outdated, but it's still useful for older versions.

Gathering Materials[]

In order to get your witchy life started, the first step is to start gathering the mods important materials.

  • Harvest grass for a variety of seeds: Garlic, Mandrake, Hellebore, Aconitum, Wormwood, and Belladonna; as well as dead bushes for White Sage.

- Once you have Mandrake and Hellebore seeds, you can grow them to craft the Book of Shadows, which serves as an in-game guide.

  • Collect various saplings and wood from across the world, both vanilla and bewitchment varieties. Elder Trees are required to progress in the mod.
  • Search for iron, salt and silver underground, and look for gemstones while mining.
  • Seek out clay in riverbeds and other watery locations.

Collecting Fumes[]

To progress in the mod we need to begin collecting fumes by using an Oven. When supplied with fuel, clay jars, and certain items an oven will output various fumes and other by-products.

  • Craft an Oven and a healthy supply of Unfired Clay Jars, with a minimum of four.
  • Cook the Unfired Clay Jars in a furnace or your new oven.
  • Insert your now fired Clay Jars in the middle-bottom slot of your oven.
  • Place a few Oak Saplings in the upper left slot of your oven, and provide some fuel. You should now be producing Oak Spirits. Make sure you make at least four of them.

Now it is time to make an Altar!

Altars[]

Altars are required for powering many of bewitchment devices, such as the loom, distillery, and crystal ball. They also provide power for rituals.

  • Craft 6 altar blocks using 4 Oak Spirits, 4 Elder Logs, 2 Salt, and 8 Smooth Stone.
  • Place these blocks in a 3x2 pattern in an open area wide enough for large ritual circles, or near the devices you wish to power.
  • Right-click the Altar with any color carpet to finish the altar Multi-Block Structure.
  • Begin topping the altar with modifiers and surrounding it with a variety of plant life to start generating magic for rituals.
